By completing this form, you are registering your interest in attending the Thirlwall Inquiry public gallery. The hearings will take place at Liverpool Town Hall, High St, Liverpool L2 3SW.

  • You can use this form to request a seat for one person. Only the named person on the booking will be permitted to use the reservation.
  • You are requesting a seat in the public gallery of the Thirlwall Inquiry Hearing room.
  • Bookings are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • You will receive an email confirming your request to book and a separate email confirming your reservation.
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel in advance by emailing contact@thirlwallinquiry.co.uk.

Note: Members of the media are not permitted to use this registration system and must contact media.enquiries@thirlwallinquiry.co.uk and the Inquiry’s media team if they wish to attend.

Data policy

  • What we use your data for: Your information will be used to confirm your seat reservation and identify you when you arrive at the hearing centre. Your information may be shared with third parties in order to provide support services upon your request, and/or with the Inquiry security and venue security in the event of an emergency within the hearing centre. Your name (no other details) will be shared with the Inquiry’s security providers and/or emergency and law enforcement services as part of our security process.
  • What personal information will be collected: The name of the attendee, their email address, the name of the person making the booking (if applicable), the email address of the person making the booking (if relevant), the attendee’s accessibility requirements.
  • What is our lawful basis for using your information: Where we process personal data provided by you, the legal basis for processing that personal data is because the user consents to us doing so (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR. Where we process sensitive personal data, such as religious information from dietary requirements or medical data from special access requirements, the legal basis is your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)). Your consent can be withdrawn at any time.
  • How long is your personal information stored: 3 months
  • Where is your personal information stored: As your personal data is stored on our IT infrastructure, and shared with our data processors, it may be transferred and stored securely outside the UK. Where that is the case it will be subject to equivalent legal protection through an adequacy decision, or the use of appropriate contractual documents, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement. Paper documents used to record your visit will be destroyed at the end of each day.
  • What are my rights? 
    • You have the right to request information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data. 
    • You have the right to request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay. 
    • You have the right to request that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement. 
    • You have the right to request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed. 
    • You have the right in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested) to request that the processing of your personal data is restricted. 
    • You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data. 
    • Your rights may be subject to exemptions or limitations. Requests are dealt with on a case-by-case basis. 
  • How to contact us The data controller for your personal data is the Thirlwall Inquiry. You can raise any privacy and data protection concerns with the Thirlwall Inquiry Data Protection Officer.   • Complaints and appeals If you have already made a complaint to us and are not happy with the outcome, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). The ICO is the supervisory authority responsible for data protection in the UK. Code of conduct

  • The identity of babies named on the indictment, their parents and a small number of medical professionals who gave evidence in the criminal trial are protected by Crown Court orders.  These prohibit the publication or reporting of any information that tends to identify these individuals. The Inquiry is bound by these orders. All visitors must comply with the Crown Court orders.
  • We understand that the subject matter of this Inquiry will be emotionally challenging for many. We would encourage anyone that is affected by any of the issues raised by the Inquiry reach out to a relevant support organisation. See the Support page of our website for more details. Emotional support will be available to visitors attending hearings from the Coroners Court Support Service. We expect all visitors to be considerate and respectful of others.
  • On arrival, all visitors attending the hearing will undertake a manual security screening and bag check.
  • Devices with recording or filming capabilities including mobile phones are not permitted to be used in the hearing room.
